Teaching Foci

German Language Education and German as a Foreign and Second Language (GFL/GSL)

Teaching in German language education and GFL/GSL with a focus on language learning, language teaching, multilingualism and the professional development of pre-service teachers.

International Teacher Education and School-Based Professional Development

Design and supervision of international teaching and learning formats in teacher education, linking university-based learning with school-based experience, reflection and professional development.

International Teaching and GFL Practicums and Hybrid Teaching and Learning Formats

Preparation, supervision and reflection of international teaching and GFL practicums, as well as the development and implementation of hybrid and transnational university courses.

Research Foci

German Language Education and German as a Foreign and Second Language (GFL/GSL)

German language education and language pedagogy in school and higher-education contexts; German as a Foreign and Second Language (GFL/GSL); teacher education and the professional development of pre-service teachers. Particular experience lies in primary education as well as in teacher education across school types, including secondary and comprehensive schools.

Internationalisation of Teacher Education

Internationalisation and professional development in teacher education; design, implementation and supervision of international university, school and practicum partnerships; international and hybrid teaching and learning formats; student and staff mobility as well as international teaching and GFL practicums. A particular focus is placed on connecting university teaching with school-based and transnational processes of learning and professional development.

Democracy Education, Education for Sustainable Development and Discursive Participation

Democracy education and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in school and higher-education contexts; discursive participation, perspective-taking and argumentative learning; development and implementation of related approaches in international teacher education and transnational educational cooperation.

Kordula Schulze is a retired Teacher in Higher Education and External Lecturer at the Institute of German Studies at the University of Münster. After many years as a civil-service teacher and teacher educator, she joined the University of Münster full-time in 2006. From 2011 to 2014, she worked in school quality analysis at the Münster District Government while continuing to teach at the university. Her main areas of work and teaching are German language education, German as a Foreign and Second Language (GFL/GSL), the internationalisation of teacher education, and the design and supervision of international university, school and practicum partnerships. Her international cooperation activities began with Uzbekistan, were complemented by cooperation with Georgia and have developed continuously with Indonesia since 2017. She serves as Educational Lead in several DAAD-funded projects. Current areas of focus include international teacher education, democracy education, Education for Sustainable Development, diversity and discursive participation.

Functions and Memberships

The Senior Expert Service (SES) is the assignment organisation of the Foundation of German Industry for International Cooperation. Its international assignments are supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) (Senior Expert Service (SES), Volunteer Expert)
