CollectionManager – cataloging and documenting collection objects

Service: The CollectionManager is the central tool for digital management of physical objects in museum and scientific collections, as well as the workflows associated with their management. As a web service, it is available as a modern digital instrument for all museums and scientific collections of the University of Münster.
CollectionManager is based on the fylr software and is operated by the University and State Library (ULB) in Münster within the university's own infrastructure. It is provided in close cooperation with the Zentrale Kustodie of the University.
Service features:
- Inventory and description of physical collection objects using a standardized data model for museum collections, including the use of standardized data, ontologies, and controlled vocabularies
- Support for practical collection management, e.g., management of loan traffic, organization of conservation and restoration measures, general documentation
- Role and permission management to support collaborative workflows
- optional transfer of selected digital objects in standardized form to, for example, the German Digital Library (DDB)
- Central data hosting and configuration by the ULB Münster, with regular backups
Target group: Faculty, researchers, research units (departments, institutes, service centers)
Costs: free of charge for scientific collections of the University of Münster
