The Voice of the Sea. An Indonesian Decolonial Trauma-Informed Ecofeminist Theology

Prof. Dr. Septemmy E. Lakawa

On October 28, 2025, Professor Septemmy Eucharistia Lakawa will offer a public lecture at the Faculty of Protestant Theology at the University of Münster. Lakawa is currently working as International Fellow at the Department for Religious Studies and Intercultural Theology. She is professor of Mission Studies, Trauma Theology and Feminist Theology at Jakarta Theological Seminary, Indonesia. Her research interests are in blue missiology, feminist intercultural theology of trauma, aesthetics of healing, eco-faith, and ethics of sustainability. Prof. Lakawa was the first female president of Jakarta Theological Seminary (2019–2023). She received her Doctor in Theology in 2011 from Boston University School of Theology, with the dissertation: “Risky Hospitality: Mission in the Aftermath of Religious Communal Violence in Indonesia”. Her recent book focuses on the theme: “Compassion and Trauma: A New Imagination of Christian Mission” (2022).

On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, Prof. Lakawa will give a public lecture entitled “The Voice of the Sea. An Indonesian Decolonial Trauma-Informed Ecofeminist Theology.” The event will take place in Room 102 of the Protestant Theological Faculty, Universitätsstraße 13-17.

The lecture, which will be held in English, is open to anyone who is interested.
