Edition: Die Protokolle der lutherisch-reformierten Gesamtsynode der Grafschaft Mark und ihrer Nebenquartiere 1817-1834 (Prof. Dr. Jürgen Kampmann, Tübingen) [loosely translated: Protocols of the Lutheran-reformed conference of the county Mark and its neighborhoods (1817-1834) (Prof. Dr. Jürgen Kampmann, Tübingen)].

This edition is part of a long-term edition project called “Protokolle der lutherischen und reformierten Gesamtsynode der Grafschaft Mark und ihrer Nebenquartiere mit erläuternden Dokumenten”. The editions dealing with 1817-1820 are already published. Protocols for 1821 and 1822 are prepared for printing. Specialty of these protocols: in the region “Mark”, there are two different state-independent churches which were self-governed. Together with the free churches in Jülich, Kleve und Berg, they resisted state-claims about regulatory-laws. These protocols show the disputes between the different churches. In 1835, the “Rhine-Westphalian Church Constitution” offered a solution. The conferences ended in 1834.

A second topic includes the union and its constitutions. Writings of the church, the ministry in Berlin, synods and communities are edited. Through the attempt to offer a complete publication, there is a now a new picture of the union and its implementation.

The third topic deals with daily church routine. The so-called Berlin drafts of the church constitution 1817/1818 started strong discussions among communities. All “further explaining” documents are almost fully published. This completeness is unique.
