Empowerment als Theorie- und Praxiskonzept der Pastoraltheologie

Abstract

Potenzial und Tauglichkeit des Empowerment-Begriffs für pastoraltheologische Theorie und Praxis zu erschließen, ist Absicht des folgenden Beitrags. Dazu wird zunächst in die Genese des Konzepts in den Sozialwissenschaften eingeführt. Die Schlüsselbegriffe der Taufberufung bzw. des gemeinsamen Priestertums und der Ermächtigung zu leben, bieten erste Zugänge zur Verortung von Empowerment im pastoraltheologischen Diskurs. Aus ihnen ergibt sich eine Diskussion um die individuelle Verengung und systemische Zielrichtung, in der eine besondere Problematik in Bezug auf Machtasymmetrien aufscheint. Daraus soll die Bedeutung des Paradigmas geschärft und methodologische Schlussfolgerungen gezogen werden.

The aim of the following article is to explore the potential and suitability of the concept of empowerment for pastoral theological theory and practice. To this end, it begins with an introduction to the genesis of the concept in the social sciences. The key concepts of baptismal vocation, the common priesthood and empowerment for life offer initial approaches to situating empowerment in pastoral theological discourse, giving rise to a discussion of individual narrowing and systemic orientation, in which a particular problem arises in relation to power asymmetries. This should serve to sharpen the significance of the paradigm and draw methodological conclusions.
