Niklas Luhmanns Systemtheorie und die Praktische Theologie

Abstract

In diesem Beitrag wird die komplexe Systemtheorie von Niklas Luhmann ausführlich dargestellt, und zwar insbesondere Luhmanns Überlegungen zur Religion in einer säkularisierten und funktional differenzierten Gesellschaft, zum Glauben als symbolisch-generalisiertes Kommunikationsmedium sowie zur Kirche, Seelsorge und Diakonie. Danach werden ohne jeden Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit der mögliche Gewinn und das Anregungspotenzial dieser Theorie für die Praktische Theologie benannt. Eine kurze metatheoretische Reflexion rundet den Artikel ab.

This paper firstly presents in detail the complex system’s theory of Niklas Luhmann, in particular his reflections on religion in a secularized and functionally differentiated society, on faith as a symbolicgeneralized medium of communication, and on the church, pastoral care, chaplaincy, and diakonia. Then without claim to completeness, the possible benefit of this theory for practical theology is denoted. A short meta-theoretical reflection rounds off the article.
