About Lilian
I was born in 1995 and grew up in a small village close to Hamburg. After finishing my Abitur in 2013, I moved to Rostock to study chemistry. In 2022, I obtained my PhD at the same University under the supervision of Axel Schulz. My research focused on the usage of phosphorus-based species for small-molecule activation.
Afterwards, I spent a few months in the research group of Matthias Tamm at the Technical University in Braunschweig investigating main-group element based carbene species. In the fall of 2022, I joined the group of Jose Goicoechea at the University of Oxford, where I investigated heavier main group element multiple bond systems, funded by a Leopoldina fellowship. In 2024, I joined the group of Christian Müller at the Free University Berlin as a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on heteroatomic ring systems consisting of P, As, N and C and on low-valent P and As chemistry.
In June 2025, I started my independent research group at the same university funded by a Liebig scholarship of the Fond der Chemischen Industrie. From October 2025, my group will move to the University of Münster, where I will work as a tenure-track Junior Professor. My research will focus on molecular main-group chemistry and catalysis.
In my chemistry-free time I love sports (basketball, running, sailing) and cooking/baking.
