SP BioSciences

The SP BioSciences is an open-topic doctoral programme. In contrast to topic-specific programmes, there is no specific focus on a single research topic to which the doctoral projects of all doctoral candidates would contribute. This diversity of topics is intentional - and it is a special characteristic of the SP BioSciences: Here, the doctoral candidates have excellent opportunities to network broadly and to benefit interdisciplinarily from the expertise and infrastructure of all participating research groups from very different research fields. Last but not least, this broad exchange across disciplines automatically leads to a "view beyond one's own nose", which can decisively promote a classification of one's own work in the larger overall context and the further development of one's own career.
Information on the possible research directions that can be pursued as part of a doctorate in the SP BioSciences at Münster University can be found on the homepages of the various research groups, especially in the Department of Biology, but also, for example, at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine or in the Faculty of Medicine.
