The university partnership with National Taiwan Normal University, Taipei

In the section "Focus on Cooperation", we present one of the Institute of Sinology and East Asian Studies' key partnerships: its collaboration with National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) in Taipei. NTNU is one of Taiwan's most prestigious universities – its Mandarin Training Centre in particular attracts over 1,700 international students every year and is regarded worldwide as one of the best places to learn Chinese. Since 2014, the Institute of Sinology and East Asian Studies and the Department of Chinese as a Second Language have enjoyed a close partnership that facilitates exchanges between students, teachers and researchers.
In this interview, Alexander Brosch (M.A.), research associate and academic advisor at the institute, talks about the origins and significance of this cooperation, the special features of studying in Taiwan, and why a stay at NTNU is a decisive step in language acquisition for many students.
