Daniela Schröder is a born and raised Fischkopp from Northern Germany. Early exposure to badly recorded VHS tapes of Mr Bean (who, ironically, almost never spoke a word) raised her interest in the English language. She decided to study English before her first English lesson at school was even over (true story!), and after staying in the US for a year, she studied American studies, sociology and German linguistics in Frankfurt and New Jersey and received her Master’s degree in 2013. While working as a research assistant at the Institute for British and American Studies at the University of Hamburg, she pursued her PhD in English linguistics and historical linguistics at the University of Bamberg and completed her post-graduate studies in 2020. Since 2021, she has been a temporary member of the Language Practice team at the WWU English department, offering classes on written academic English and spoken English. Her main research interests include syntax and semantics, figurative language, and historical linguistics.
