New MOOC: The Representation of Migration in Visual Media

Are you looking for 1 LP for your LZV (M.Ed), or completing the External Module for BAPS or NTS? The Chair of American Studies is excited to promote a new Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) developed by the Erasmus+ MigraMedia project. This course delves into how films and other visual media shape our understanding of migration. You will explore critical case studies from around the world, examining border politics at key sites like the Spanish enclaves of Melilla and Ceuta and the US-Mexico border, the Mediterranean context by analyzing media portrayals of migration across the sea, Eastern European perspectives on the situation in Poland, Ukraine, and the Black Sea region, as well as African narratives and the representation of Africans migrating. Throughout these topics, you will develop the skill of critical reflection, learning how to analyze and question the migration stories you see in the media.
This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with a critical topic, connect with students and teachers across Europe, and earn credit—all online.
