Compulsory Optional Subject: Material Physics

Materials Physics can be elected as compulsory optional subject / module according to the curriculum for Master in  Physics. Within the module, we regularly offer introductory and advanced lectures, a lab course consisting of 10 experiments and student seminars.

Naturally, you are also very welcome to join our research teams. We offer a spectrum of opportunities for Bachelor-, Mater- or Staatsexamens theses and would be delighted if we could inspire you for our topics.

Compulsory optional subject / module according consists of:

Lecture

Materials Physics I including homework (3 LP)

... offered during winter semester

More information:
Part I of basic Introduction: structures, defectes, thermodynamics, transport

Lecture

"Materials Physics II" including homework (3 LP)

...offered during summer semester

More information:
Part II of basic Introduction: solid state reactions, plasticity, phase transformation, functional materials

Laboratory course

Laboratory course in material physics (5 LP)

...offered during summer semester

More information:
10 experiments that cover the range of topics of the two introductory lectures

Advanced lecture or student seminar

Advanced lecture or student seminar (up to 5 LP)

...offered during winter semester and summer semester

More information:
