AMELIE project meeting at MEET


Muenster, 15 June 2012 - The partners involved in the research project AMELIE held an interim review in the MEET battery research centre at Münster University, discussing the results so far of their 18 months of work on electrochemical energy storage for automobile applications. The international research project focuses on the use of fluorinated active and inactive materials in lithium-ion batteries. The goals of the research are to achieve higher energy densities and longer lifetimes of batteries, along with improved recycling of components and better safety.

AMELIE stands for “Advanced Fluorinated Materials for High Safety, Energy and Calendar Life Lithium Ion Batteries”. As well as MEET at Münster University, the following institutions are involved as partners in the project: the French research institutions “Commissariat à l’énergie atomique et aux energies alternatives” (CEA), the Grenoble Institute of Technology (INP), the University of Bologna (UNIBO), the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (KNUTD), and the companies ERAS Labo, Prayon, Recupyl, Renault, Solvay, Continental subsidiary Temic Automotive Electric Motors, and Volvo. The European Union is financing the project with altogether 3,526,000 euros. The project is scheduled to run until the end of December 2013.

AMELIE Projekttreffen
