SHORT CV
Sarah Albiez-Wieck obtained a Master's degree in Latin American Studies from the University of Cologne with stays abroad in Lisbon and Mexico City. Afterwards, she completed her PhD studies in Anthropology of the Americas at Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn with a PhD thesis on "External Contacts of the Tarascan State: Influences from Inside and Outside of Mesoamerica" (pubished at Colegio de Michoacán). Since 2021, she has the Venia Legendi (Habiliation) in Modern and Contemporary History. The revised version of her habiliation thesis was published in 2022 by Brill under the title "Taxing Difference". From 2010 to 2013 she was managing director of the "Kompetenznetz Lateinamerika - Ethnicity, Citizenship, Belonging". Then she worked as Senior Researcher at the Department of Iberian and Latin American History at the University of Cologne. Following positions as Interim Professor in Iberian and Latin American History at the Universities of Cologne and Bonn, she was appointed to the Chair of Modern and Contemporary History (Non-European History, now: Latin American History) at Münster University in summer 2022.
