Courses

The Department of Biology offers the following courses:

B.Sc. Biosciences The Bachelor's program has a regular period of study of 6 semesters and begins winter semesters. There are three Master courses (with a prescribed period of study of 4 semesters) that foot on the Bachelor's degree in biosciences: M.Sc. Biosciences M.Sc. Biotechnology (in cooperation with the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy) M.Sc. Molecular Biomedicine (in collaboration with the Medical Faculty) Special Study Program "Evolution and Biocomplexity" (specialization offered within the M.Sc program Biology) All M.Sc. courses start winter and summer semesters

The courses meet international quality standards and are accredited by the Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency Hannover (ZEvA). 

Additionally we offer Bachelor and Master courses, as preparation for e.g. teaching careers at different school types:

• Dual Bachelor's / Master of Education GymGes (biology and one additional subject, leading to teaching grammar and comprehensive schools); degree courses start in winter semester only; standard period of study of the Bachelor's phase: 6 semesters, standard period of study of the Master phase: 4 semesters
• BK Bachelor / Master BK (biology and one additional subject, leading to a teaching career at a vocational college); start of studies for bachelor's and master in winter semesters only; standard period of study of the Bachelor's phase: 6 semesters, standard period of study of the Master phase: 4 semesters
• HRGe Bachelor / Master of Education GHR (leading to a teaching profession at primary and secondary schools and the corresponding forms of comprehensive school); start of studies for bachelor's and master in winter semesters only; standard period of study of the Bachelor's phase: 6 semesters, standard period of study of the Master phase: 4 semesters
