Dozent:   Prof. Dr. Benedikt Wirth, Sprechstunde n.V.

Informationen zum Seminar

Zeit, Ort: Do. 14:00 bis 16:00, wöchentlich, SR 1b
Beginn: 10.04.2014
Inhalt: Due to the high dimensionality, the microscopic scale in many physical problems cannot be fully resolved in simulations, however, a fully macroscopic description ignores important mechanisms on the microscale. As a remedy one can restrict the microscopic description to small regions and couple those to regions with a macroscopic description. This seminar considers different methods to couple atomistic (microscopic) with continuum (macroscopic) simulations together with the associated numerical analysis.
Voraussetzungen:  Wünschenswert sind solide Kenntnisse der Analysis und numerischen Analysis partieller Differentialgleichungen. Die Themen werden an den Kenntnisstand der Teilnehmer angepasst.
Vorbesprechung: Mi., 22.01.2014, 14:00-16:00, Raum 120.029/030, Angewandte Mathematik
