Improving photosynthetic efficiency

Institute of Plant Biochemistry, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU) & Cluster of Excellence on Plant Sciences (CEPLAS)

Prof. Dr. Andreas P. M. Weber

Andreas Weber’s research focuses on the evolutionary and molecular mechanisms of photosynthesis, with a specific emphasis on C4 and CAM pathways, and the transport of metabolites across chloroplast membranes. His pioneering work in synthetic biology aims to re-engineer metabolic pathways to optimize photosynthetic efficiency and improve crop yields in changing climate conditions. Andreas is a founding member of the CEPLAS Cluster of Excellence and is a fomer member of the senate of the DFG. He will also join the retreat of the professors of our Fachbereich on 18 November.
