INTERDISCIPLINARY EXCHANGE

Since it was founded in 2010, the smartNETWORK has positioned itself as a hub and incubator for interdisciplinary exchange, supporting doctoral candidates, postdocs, graduate schools, and large-scale collaborative projects alike. In addition to actively fostering institutional networking, the network initiates its own projects centred on a rotating "anchor theme". The initial anchor theme was "Decision–Strategy–Public Sphere" (2010-2015), followed by "Public Sphere(s) and Debate Culture(s)" (2016-2019), which evolved into "Debate Culture(s) Amidst Media Change" (2019-2023). The thematic focus shifted again for the 2023-2025 period under the overarching title "Debate within the Diversity of Debate Cultures". Concurrently, since 2023, smartNETWORK has been involved in the thematic area of ​​"Migration– Diaspora–Citizenship" in cooperation with the COFUND project of the same name.
