Genetic basis of parthenogenetic reproduction in Rotifers
This project focuses on the link between the asexual to sexual phase in the life cycle of monogonont rotifers. We
would like to understand the mechanisms of meiosis-suppression during the parthenogenetic phase of the life cycle in
Monogononts. We compare the gene expression patterns in Brachionus plicatilis to those in other monogonont
rotifers during sexual and parthenogenetic reproduction in order to identify genes that are upregulated during
parthenogenesis, and thus possibly involved in meiosis-suppression.
