The mass spectrometry laboratory

The mass spectrometry laboratory is equipped with several mass spectrometers including double focussing magnetic sector field-, ion trap-, triple quadrupole-, and laser desorption-DE-TOF- devices. Various ionization modes as electron impact (EI), chemical ionization (CI), field ionization (FI), electrospray (ESI, APCI) and laser ionization (LDI, MALDI) and inlet systems like direct inlet (crucible, wire), GC, HPLC, TLC and nanospray are available. Although this group serves primarily for service and educational purposes with a throughput of several thousand analyses per year, there are widespread scientific collaborations.
Laser desorption and coupling techniques, especially TLC-ESI are special points of interest.
To the group belong two fulltime and a halftime technician, one chemist and additonal student(s).
