The decrease of the strength of superalloys at high temperatures
The critical resolved shear stress tt of nickel-base
superalloys is virtually independent of temperature up to the temperature Tmax.
For NIMONIC PE16 Tmax is close to 1050K. Above Tmax tt decreases precipitously. The aim of this investigation
is to identify the processes which govern this decrease. One possibility is that the strengthening
g'-precipitates dissolve above 1050K. The following experiments
