Entwicklung neuer Zytostatika

Solange detaillierte molekulare Einblicke in die Pathophysiologie der Entstehung und des Wachstums maligner Tumoren nicht gezieltere therapeutische Interventionen erlauben, besteht mittelfristig in der Entwicklung neuer zytostatischer Substanzen eine Hoffnung auf Verbesserung der Therapieresultate bei Patienten mit malignen Tumoren. Die Arbeitsgruppe führt seit längerem monozentrisch und oligozentrisch in Zusammenarbeit mit der Phase I/II-Studiengruppe der Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Internistische Onkologie frühe klinische Studien der Phase I und II zur Erprobung neuer Zytostatika durch und testet vorangehend oder parallel an geeigneten experimentellen Modellen deren Zytotoxizität und therapeutisches Profil. Bei den untersuchten Substanzklassen handelt es sich um Äther-Lipide, neue Schwermetalle wie Titanocendichlorid, neue antimitotische Peptide wie Cematodin, und antitumoral wirksame Zytokine wie Interleukin-4 und Interleukin-13. Des weiteren werden Kombinationschemotherapie-Studien der Phase II, z.B. mit neuen Taxanen und Antimetaboliten, durchgeführt. Sämtliche Studien werden nach den Richtlinien der so genannten "Good Clinical Practice" durchgeführt.
