Transendotheliale Migration von Leukozyten

Während die Bindung von Leukozyten an die luminale Oberfläche des Endothels in den letzten Jahren intensiv untersucht wurde, ist wenig über den eigentlichen Transmigrationsvorgang bekannt. Wir interessieren uns für die Kontrollmechanismen die das Öffnen und Schließen der endothelilen Zellkontakte während der transendothelialen Leukozytenwanderung regulieren. Dabei konzentrieren wir uns auf Untersuchungen des endothelspezifischen Cadherins VE-cadherin und der intrazellulär assoziierten Catenine. Wir konnten kürzlich zeigen, daß das Andocken von neutrophilen Granulozyten an Endothelzellen zwar zur Lösung endothelialer Kontakte führt, daß dies jedoch nicht, wie zuvor veröffentlicht wurde, über den proteolytischen Abbau des VE-cadherin/catenin Komplexes reguliert wird (Moll et al., J. Cell Biol. 1998, 140:403-407).
