GoviB stands for „Governance in Babylon: Negotiating the Rule of Three Empires“.

The project provides a contribution to the politial, economic and social history of Babylonia. It aims at studying questions of governance by asking how different actors negotiated imperial authority in the city of Babylon, capital or main city in several successive empires.

The project has received funding from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (Consolidator Grant agreement no. 101001619).
