PhD Project: Enantioselective synthesis of differently substituted tetrahydro-3-benzazepines as σ and NMDA receptor antagonists

Abstract of Research Project

Seven membered N-hetecycles are very important compounds in medicinal chemistry. The tetrahydro-3- benzazepine ring system contains the phenethylamine substructure, which is a part of several neurotransmitters (e.g.-norepinephrine, seretonine) and the corresponding drugs (e.g.- dopamine D1 receptor agonist Fenoldopam). Tetrahydro-3-benzazepine systems can also be good ligands for σ and NMDA receptors. In this project the enantioselective synthesis of differently substituted tetrahydro-3-benzazepines with high σ and NMDA receptor affinity is envisaged. In particular 2, 3, 4 and 1, 2, 3 tri substituted 3-benazepines 1 and 2 are in focus of this project.
