Abstract of Research Project

Group IV metallocene complexes are used as effective catalysts in α-olefin polymerization reactions. Especially ansa-metallocene complexes produce highly stereoselective e.g. polypropylenes due to their more or less rigid ligand frameworks. Recently, the synthesis of single-bridged large ansa-metallocene complexes by intramolecular ring-closing metathesis reactions in the state of the appropriate bis(alkenylcyclopentadienyl)metal complexes was reported by our group. However, these large ansa-metallocene complexes show unexpected properties in polymerization reactions. Therefore, the main goal of my PhD project is to study the properties of double and triple-bridged ansa-metallocene complexes with one alternatively two small bridges and one large bridge, in detail. The small bridges should control the π-ligand framework of the complex and the large ansa-bridge should control the catalytic process.
