Title: Asymmetric Synthesis of 2-substituted 3-Benzoazepines

Abstract of Research Project

Substituted 3-Benzoazepines are found to be potent NMDA receptor antagonists. The NMDA receptor belongs to a group of excitatory inonotropic glutamate receptors. However overstimulation of NMDA receptors causes acute and chronic neurodegenerative disorders like excitotoxicity, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease.

In this project we intend to develop an asymmetric synthesis of 2-substituted 3-benzoazepines and their pharmacological properties will also be evaluated.
