ASNEL Anniversary Exhibition

The year 2009 marks the 20th anniversary of the foundation of ASNEL, as well as its 20th annual conference. Thus, this year's conference also hosts an ASNEL Anniversary Exhibition on previous activities, such as conferences, yearbooks and summer schools. A display of posters, photographs, programmes, and books will bring ASNEL history to life. Important early conferences and publications that have led up to the foundation of ASNEL are likewise represented. The exhibition is curated by Ursula Kluwick, Claudia Perner and Frank Schulze-Engler, and will be shown in the 1st floor foyer of Fürstenberghaus (Domplatz 20-22).

Conference warming

The conference warming will take place on Wednesday, 20 May, at Brauhaus Pinkus (Kreuzstr. 4, www.pinkus-mueller.de), from 19:00 onwards.

Conference dinner

The conference dinner will take on Saturday night. Please pick up your dinner ticket at the conference office as soon as possible after your arrival.

Theatre performance: s/w remix

Sw

s/w remix is the 2008 production of Cactus Junges Theater (www.cactus-theater.de), a group of eight young actors and musicians aged 14 to 25 years from sixteen cultures of origin. With stage designer Tina Töberg, dramatic advisor Kabasia Chuwa-Moliki and director Barbara Kemmler, the play sets out to explore what it means to 'be German' from different angles: how meanigful are differences of skin colour, language or nationality today? The multilingual play mixes different Englishes with German and embarks on a journey across different musical genres, from jazz to hip-hop, citing and remixing cultural elements that include romance and party culture, generating a fresh and provocative challenge to prejudice and stereotypical thinking.
The performance is on Friday, 22 May, starting at 18:30.
Venue: Studiobühne (Domplatz 23).
All delegates of the "Postcolonial Translocations" conference are invited to the show.

We are grateful to the Kulturamt der Stadt Münster for their financial support of the Cactus Theater and this performance.
