Social programme

Beyond the academic programme, EuroSLA 28 also provides the opportunity for a more personal exchange during the evening hours. A Welcome Reception in the town hall will be held on Thursday evening, and the Conference Dinner will take place Friday evening. Additionally, Münster offers many lovely sights for a drink amidst the historical city centre or in one of the many student pubs.

Welcome Reception – Thursday, 6th September, 19:00

The town hall of Münster is – together with Osnabrück, a city some 40 kilometres away – the exact place where the Peace of Westphalia was signed in 1648. Nowadays, the town hall is still used for sessions of the city council and various gatherings such as our Welcome Reception. While the Reception takes place in the festival hall, there will also be a chance to visit the so-called Friedenssaal (Peace hall), where the treaties were signed. A guided tour in English will be provided for all those interested. Besides these historical considerations, the mayor of Münster will welcome the conference participants and inaugurate the event so that lively chatter can fill the festival hall once again. Drinks and snacks will be provided.

Town hall address: Prinzipalmarkt 10, 48143 Münster

How to get there: Bus stop “Prinzipalmarkt” with bus lines 1,9 or bus stop “Domplatz” with bus lines 1, 2, 4, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, N80. Please note that the bus transport in Münster changes to its nightly schedule after 9 pm (only busses indicated with an N run after 9 pm and less frequently than during the day). You can also download the app “DB Navigator” (available in English and German) to get up-to-date information about the bus lines. If none of this works, don’t worry: distances in Münster are usually not too far and a taxi is always available.
