  • Research Project

This research investigates social resilience and diasporic citizenship in migrant communities, focusing on how migrants adapt and thrive despite challenges. It explores the concepts like becoming and belonging, togetherness, social support, and integration, all crucial for building sustainable well-being. By examining migrants’ lived experiences and social membership, the study highlights the role of civil society and social service sector in fostering inclusion diasporic belonging. The project addresses key questions around how migrants construct their sense of citizenship, negotiate identity and well-being, and how social services can enhance their experiences. It uses an interdisciplinary framework, integrating theories such as status construction, social resilience, and social identity. Using a phenomenological and participatory research approach, the study includes qualitative interviews with migrants and social workers, along with creative workshops to capture the diverse social experiences of participants. The research unfolds in three phases: data collection, networking workshops with social actors, and dissemination of findings through publications, conferences, and digital media. Ultimately, this project seeks to bridge the gap between human rights-based and social membership-based integration, offering valuable insights for future studies on diversity, community, and social justice.
