"As a kid, I used to tell my parents about a "flying jellyfish" that I would build that would heal all sorts of illnesses. Now, a flying jellyfish may be impossible, but the field of synthetic biology offers many opportunities to adapt organisms to help people live better lives.

The iGEM-Competition enables us students to experience and conduct such research first hand, despite not yet being established scientists. As part of this years team, I am very excited to learn many things about synthetic biology, the organisational effort behind such a research project and of course to learn from my fellow team members."
