Der Tag der Informatiken findet im Schloss der Universität Münster statt. Das Programm umfasst Vorträge, Poster und Demos sowie zahlreiche Gelegenheiten, beim Kaffee oder Mittagessen Kontakte zu knüpfen.

Keynote

Wir freuen uns, Prof. Dr. Gerhard Weikum vom Max-Planck Institut Informatik in Saarbrücken für den Keynote Vortrag am Tag der Informatiken begrüßen zu dürfen.

Titel: From Text to Entities and from Entities to Insight: a Perspective on Unstructured Big Data

Zusamenfassung: News, social media, web sites, and enterprise sources produce huge amounts of valuable contents in the form of text and speech. To tap this wealth of unstructured big data and obtain insights, a decisive step is to identify the entities that are referred to and relationships between entities. This allows linking unstructured contents with structured data.
However, this step faces the fundamental problem that names and phrases are often highly ambiguous; mapping them to entities and relations is a challenging task.
The talk will discuss the state of the art and open problems on disambiguating named entities and relational phrases.
It will also put this line of research in perspective to the bigger picture of big data analytics.

 Prof. Weikum

Kurzbiographie:
Prof. Dr. Gerhard Weikum ist Forschungsdirektor des Max-Planck Instituts für Informatik (MPII) in Saarbrücken. Dort leitet er die Abteilung Datenbanken und Informationssysteme. Prof. Weikum ist außerplanmäßiger Professor an der Informatik der Universität des Saarlandes in Saarbrücken und ist wissenschaftlicher Projektleiter im Exzellenzcluster für „Multimodal Computing and Interaction“. Sein beruflicher Werdegang führte ihn an die ETH Zürich in der Schweiz, an das MCC in Austin, Texas, sowie zu Microsoft Research in Redmond, Washington. Sein Studium der Informatik mit anschließender Promotion hat Prof. Weikum an der Universität Darmstadt absolviert.
