Die in diesem Band veröffentlichten Beiträge sind das Ergebnis einer zweitägigen bilateralen, deutsch-zyprischen Konferenz über das Rechtssystem der Republik Zypern, die im Oktober 2001 an der Westfälischen Wilhelms-Universität Münster stattfand. Bei dieser vom Institut für Interdisziplinäre Zypern-Studien initiierten Tagung wurden hochrangige Rechtsexperten aus Zypern und Deutschland in Münster zu einem Gedankenaustausch zusammenführt. Rechtsvergleichende Aspekte und die Problematik einer Angleichung des zyprischen Rechtssystems angesichts des im Oktober 2001 noch bevorstehenden – mittlerweile ja vollzogenen – Eintritts Zyperns in die Europäische Union standen dabei im Vordergrund.
