Funktion des Nebenhodens

Eine Dysfunktion des Nebenhodens stellt eine mögliche Ursache männlicher Fertilitätsstörungen dar, da die reifenden Samenfäden ihre Fertilisationsfähigkeit erst in diesem Organ erlangen. Ziel dieses Schwerpunkts ist daher die Erforschung der Nebenhodenphysiologie und ihrer Relevanz für die Fertilität und Infertilität. Andererseits würde eine kontrollierte Hemmung der Nebenhodenfunktionen einen Ansatz für eine neue Methode der Fertilitätskontrolle eröffnen. Ein transgenes Mausmodell (c-ros-tyrosine-kinase knock-out mouse) mit epididymidal bedingter Infertilität liefert neue Ansätze für das Verständnis der Nebenhodenfunktionen und für die Fertilitätskontrolle. Neue Substanzen mit antiglykolytischer Wirkung in menschlichen Samenfäden wurden getestet. Aus dem Nebenhoden konnte ein neues Protein isoliert werden, dass die Fertilität bei Ratten entscheidend beeinflusst. Für die Analye der Bewegungsmuster und des Funktionsstatus der Samenfäden in den unterschiedlichen Bereichen des Nebenhodens wurde quantitative Messmethoden etabliert und bei Mann als auch im Tiermodell Affe eingesetzt.
