We look forward to welcoming Prof. Peter Fenves, who will give a webinar and a guest lecture at our graduate school. Peter Fenves holds the Joan and Serapta Chair in Literature at Northwestern University and is a professor of German, Comparative Literary Studies, Jewish Studies, and Asian Languages and Cultures. He is the author of A Peculiar Fate: Kant and the Problem of World-History (1991); “Chatter”: Language and History in Kierkegaard (1993); Arresting Language—from Leibniz to Benjamin (2001), Late Kant: Towards Another Law of the Earth (2003, German edition 2010), The Messianic Reduction: Walter Benjamin and the Shape of Time (2011), and Benjamin among Philosophers (Spanish version, 2019, forthcoming in English).
