Doctoral Guidelines for Department 7 at the University of Münster

As of Juli of 2010, the Department of Psychology and Sport & Exercise Sciences has been accorded its own set of regulations regarding the examinational procedure for doctoral students wishing to promote within our department. On the basis of a scientifically relevant doctoral research acheivement (written thesis), it is possible to be awarded the academic degree "Doctor of Philosophy" (doctor philosophiae - Dr. phil.) or the academic degree "Doctor of Natural Sciences" (doctor rerum naturalium - Dr. rer. nat.). Though graduate studies, the candidate should demonstrate his or her ability to work independantly above and beyond the general goals of study in the field of scientific, psychological research. Which degree the candidate is awarded depends on the topic of the dissertation and the methods used during the research process. The Thesis Committee decides title of the degree on the basis of the candidate's application and the supporting statements of candidate's Doctorate Committee.

 

The doctoral examination procedure takes place in 6 steps:

Enrollment | Application for Admission to Graduate Studies at the Department | Graduate Studies and Completion of the Dissertation | Application for Admission to the Doctoral Examination | Disputation | Publication of the Dissertation

Please note that, with the exception of enrollment, all applications, forms, etc., including the dissertation, should be handed in personally by the candidate in the Dean's Office of Dept. 7 -  Fliednerstr. 21, Room 001 b/c!
