Call for Papers

for articles in the open section of
the Jahrbuch für Christliche Sozialwissenschaften

The editorial board of the Jahrbuch für Christliche Sozialwissenschaften invites you to submit articles to a social-ethical topic of choice for publication. The articles will be anonymously reviewed (double blind peer review). The deadline for the submission of a complete manuscript in English or German is January 31. An editorial decision will be made by mid-April. The invitation to submit contributions to the open section extends to all scientists in Christian Social Ethics and its related fields. The editors especially welcome manuscript submissions from young researchers.

The Jahrbuch adheres to a double-blind reviewing policy in which the identities of the referees and the author are concealed from all parties. This is to ensure the quality of the contributions and provide equal publication opportunities. By offering the opportunity to submit contributions to a topic of choice that will be reviewed by social-ethicists and published, the Jahrbuch wishes to further distinguish the discipline of Christian Social Ethics and provide an important service for the scientific community.

Possible Topics

The Jahrbuch publishes contributions to the broad field of social ethics. This includes int. al. societal ethics, Christian Social Teaching, theological social ethics, social philosophy, social sciences (Political Studies; Economics). The focus is on questions about building a good and just society with good and just social structures and institutions respectively. For example, empirical contributions from the social sciences are possible if they enable advancement on social ethical questions or political challenges.

The Jahrbuch

The Jahrbuch für Christliche Sozialwissenschaften is the leading publication in (catholic) Christian Social Ethics in the German speaking world. Its scope is ecumenical, interdisciplinary and international. As a platform of interdisciplinary dialogue on societal challenges, the Jahrbuch aims at bringing together empirical and argumentatively founded normative orientations. In this environment the Christian horizon should be discursively and critically correlated to and highlighted in conversation with differing value orientations.

The Jahrbuch strives to analyze and evaluate societal challenges on an advanced scientific level and in an interdisciplinary fashion. The research concerns questions relevant to social science, social philosophy, and political science insofar as they are accessible to normative reflection.

The Jahrbuch contains a thematically open section in addition to the annual thematic section chosen by the editorial board. Contributions to the open section can be connected to the annual topic; but, they are not required to be. The editorial board invites you to submit an article to the thematically open section of the Jahrbuch with a topic of your choice concerning Christian Social Ethics.

The Jahrbuch is published annually. Subscription to the print version is available through Aschendorff-Verlag Münster (www.aschendorff-buchverlag.de). The online version starting March 2011 (www.jcsw.de) makes all articles available after a period of 12 months.

Submission and peer review

You apply by submitting a complete manuscript in English or German. Manuscripts will only be accepted if they have not been published before and have not been submitted for publication elsewhere. All manuscripts have to comply with the contributor guidelines.

All articles will be reviewed by two referees in an anonymous process. Criteria in this process are social ethical perspective, theoretical basis, relevance of the question, originality, appropriate method and approach, clarity and conciseness. Based on this, the editor will decide on publication. Only three articles will be published in each print version of the Jahrbuch.

The editorial board will confirm the submission of your article. You will receive notice about acceptance and/or revision requests by mid-April.

Deadlines

Please submit your contribution by January 31 via e-mail (jcsw@uni-muenster.de).
