Mathematik und Informatik

5 sessions on career development. You can pick and choose: either one, several, or all sessions.
Open to all! All sessions are open to doctoral and postdoctoral researchers of Mathematics Münster, regardless of their experience level, as all input and exercises are designed for individual needs.

Mo 6.10, 9:30, 4h ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Career compass: your profile, your plan, your path
In this workshop, you will create your own career compass that can guide you in future (career) decisions. By visualising personal factors for contentment and stability and the underlying individual values, you can reflect on the demands and expectations of the academic system. This allows you to develop your career in a personally coherent way.

Tue 7.10 10:00 2h ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shaping your (research) profile: criteria for (the next) postdoc position In this workshop we will focus on your professional profile. After this session, you will know
-what committees look for when selecting candidates (and what is not so relevant for postdoc positions),
- how you can make your skills visible,
- how you can sharpen your profile.

Bring your CV to specifically adapt to the criteria.

Wed 8.10 1h ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Third party funding
Info session on third party funding opportunities, support and approach.

Thu 9.10 10:00 2h ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Applying outside academia - preparing applications
After this session, you will know what you need to consider when writing applications for a job outside academia, what the differences are between academic and non-academic applications and how you can present core competencies.
Bring your CV and cover letter if available!

Fri 10.10 9:00 2h ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Science pitch: presenting your work on a spot
In this session you will prepare you own Science Pitch.
With your Science Pitch you can present your scientific research in a brief, clear, and engaging way, thus sparking interest. Typically lasting just a few minutes, a Science Pitch is a perfect starter for conversations at conferences, application processes and possibly even telling your favourite aunt what you have been working on.
