With a modern corporate design, info materials and presentation media, our marketing department of the communication and public relations team enhances the University's distinctive profile and increases its recognisability within and outside the institution.

  • Corporate design

    Detailed information and guidelines regarding the corporate design policies of the University of Münster you can find in our corporate design manual (on request).  The following are the most important design features:

    The WWU logo serves as the visual "trademark" of the University. It has a high recognition and identification value both inside and outside the University, which is why it is very important to apply it consistently and correctly.

    We have established guidelines that define how the logo may be used with respect to size, colour and background. The most important of these include:

    • The word and figurative mark must always be used together
    • Position on image media: upper left corner
    • Colours: black, white/negative, silver
    • Application of the alternative logo (only WWU, without "Münster"): less than 3cm printing size

    The claim "wissen.leben" captures in a nutshell the close interplay between knowledge and society / the University and Münster. At the same time, it is an appeal to actively integrate knowledge into one's life. As a communicative guiding principle, the claim supports the trademark and unique profile of the University of Münster.

    • Position on image media: bottom left corner
    • Colour: black, white/negative
    • The claim can be extended by adding a third word (e.g. living.knowledge.music)
    • English variant of the claim: "living.knowledge"  

    The basic font used at the University of Münster is the Meta font family. Not only do we use it in office communication (e.g. for letters), but also in a wide range of print products (brochures, flyers, posters).

    For longer running texts, e.g. in the University newspaper or in magazines, the serif font Adobe Garamond is substituted for Meta as the second in-house typeface.

    This short film [en] is a showpiece used at education fairs, congresses and conferences. Featuring impressive clips and shots, it highlights the University's main areas of specialisation and presents the most important data and facts.   • Projects

    Tree Discovery Trail
    Go on a nature discovery tour in the middle of the city! Our Tree Discovery Trail leads you on eight stops across the Schlossgarten. Each stop is related to the topic "tree ecosystem". They include: Woodpeckers, deadwood and mushrooms, insects, the uses of wood, bats and tree varieties. You can read the information on the signs at each stop. Texts and pictures give you information in a vivid way, at the same time you can test your knowledge by answering questions!

    The stops in the Schlossgarten are in German language but you can use the English broschure (PDF download below). In addition, we offer a print copy that you can get for free in the Botanical Garden and in the Schloss.

    "Kleine Baumschule" (in German only)
    Die "kleine Baumschule" stellt Ihnen 16 Bäume im Schlossgarten der WWU vor. Dabei geht es um Mythen und Geschichten ebenso wie die Größe, das Alter, die Blattform und den Stammdurchmesser der Bäume.

    Die gedruckte Broschüre zur "kleinen Baumschule" erhalten Sie kostenlos am Empfang im Schloss und im Botanischen Garten sowie hier als PDF. Zudem ist jeder Baum mit einem Namensschild inklusive QR-Code versehen, so dass Sie vor Ort auf Ihrem Smartphone alle Informationen abrufen können.

    Wilde Linde (Wild Lime)
    In January 2007, the storm "Kyrill" swept over Germany and uprooted countless trees. The loss of the trees caused irreparable damage to many of Germany's natural monuments which included the ancient trees around the palace greens and the Botanical Garden of the University.

    Against this background, the University of Münster launched in 2012 the project "Wilde Linde" (Wild Lime). Committed citizens supported the replanting efforts by sponsoring new lime tree saplings. More than 150 trees could be replanted this way. The project finished in 2017.
