Vector-Based Illustration
Content: Illustration is a crucial tool for conveying both simple and complex issues. At universities it is becoming an important communication tool in the form of science illustrations. But illustrations are also used in non-scientific areas whenever information needs to be presented in a visually appealing way.
This course focuses on creating digital vector illustrations with Adobe Illustrator. Participants will learn about the creative process from concept to finished graphics. Creative aspects are deepened. The aim of the course is to give the participants the opportunity to visualize information in an illustrative way. The following aspects will be discussed:
- What is vector illustration?
- Brainstorming
- Preparing analog sketches
- Creating geometric objects
- Editing anchor points
- Using freehand tools
- Combining shapes
- Color theory & color management
- Perspective view
- Font & layout
- File formats, export & print
Course format: The course takes place in a mixed format on the Learnweb and in classroom. Each week, a new video lesson with associated exercises is published on the Learnweb and can be worked on flexibly by the participants. In addition, there are distinct in-person seminars, in which questions can be asked on site and special problems can be worked on.
Target Group: General computer skills and interest in graphic design are required.
Credit Points: 3 CP within the General Studies in case of successful participation in the course and the final test
