Organelle connectivity during cellular aging and metabolic adaptation

Host: Stefan Luschnig

Adaptation to changing metabolic demands requires remodeling of subcellular structures and efficient communication between organelles. Membrane contact sites establish physical contact between cellular subcompartments and allow direct communication via exchange of small molecules to integrate organellar activities. These sites exist in all eukaryotic cells and serve as important hubs for metabolic adaptation. I will discuss the remodeling of the membrane contact site landscape in yeast upon metabolic stress and aging, focusing on two contact sites established by the vacuole.
