Dorota Sleszynska was born in Poland in 1982. She studied German and Dutch Language and Literature at the University of Warsaw (2000-2005), the Free University of Berlin (ERASMUS programme 2003/04) and at Leiden University (Huygens scholarship 2005/06). In 2005 she graduated from the University of Warsaw with a Master's thesis on the question of alterity in Edith Stein's life and selected works exemplified in her correspondence with the Polish philosopher Roman Ingarden. In 2006 Dorota Sleszynska finished Dutch Studies at Leiden University with a Master's thesis on the literary portrait of the painter Hieronymus Bosch in Dutch contemporary novels.
