curriculum vitae

Kristian Mennen studied History at the University of Nijmegen from 2002 onwards. During his studies, he participated in several International Students of History Association (ISHA) meetings and was involved in organising two ISHA seminars. His bachelor's thesis, completed in 2005, was a comparative analysis of the national socialist parties in the Sudetenland, based on their ideological characteristics. In his master's thesis, “Tussen afzijdigheid en betrokkenheid”, finished in 2006, he described the main features of Dutch foreign policy in East Central Europe in the interwar period.
In the subsequent Research Master Historical Sciences at the University of Nijmegen (2006-2008), Kristian Mennen further specialised in the field of Political History. The studies for his master's degree included a stay as an Erasmus student in Vienna and research in the Austrian State Archives. This project scrutinised the Slovaks’ possible contribution to and significance for Archduke Franz Ferdinand’s reform plans for the Habsburg monarchy.
