Dr. Christina May was born in Dortmund in 1980. From 1999 until 2005 she studied Cultural Sociology, English and History at the Universities of Bremen, East Anglia and Leipzig. After receiving her Master’s degree she started her PhD-studies at the Georg-August-University of Göttingen. The project dealt with a critical analysis of the concept of welfare generations in European pension systems. It included a research of media discourses on generations and generational conflicts in Germany, Great Britain and the Netherlands. Christina May received her PhD in sociology from Göttingen University in January 2009. In March 2009 she started her post-doctoral research at the Graduiertenkolleg “Zivilgesellschaftliche Verständigungsprozesse”. Her research interests include social policy, social theory, historical sociology and methods of comparative research.
