GrafStat

Content: Statistical projects with the goal of a purely descriptive evaluation can be easily implemented with the software GraftStat [de]. Especially for statistic beginners the program offers an alternative to SPSS and other statistic programs. The software, which is free of charge for the education sector, is mainly used for evaluations in the school sector or with regard to research-based learning as a teaching instrument for surveys of and with pupils and is therefore of particular interest to prospective teachers. Survey projects in the area of research with GrafStat [de], which were developed in cooperation with the Federal Agency for Civic Education, show how the software can be used in teaching and offer numerous materials that can support the implementation of an own survey project.

In the course, the possibilities of creating a paper or online questionnaire will be shown, the procedure for data collection and evaluation will be practiced and the options for graphical presentation of results will be presented. The data records generated in GrafStat can be exported and further processed in other programs.

Target Group: students without program knowledge (Basic statistical knowledge is helpful but not mandatory.)
