This month, Robert Sidbury of the Dermatology Faculty evaluated an article that hints at the possible dangers of allowing babies to swim in public swimming pools because of the risk of infection. The results of the study aren’t conclusive and Professor Sidbury, a pediatric dermatologist, thinks the „jury is still out„. There appears to be more than just speculation about not only swimming baths and infectious disease but also allergic disease as well (though not atopic dermatitis in this case).
