Dr. Barbara Halberschmidt and Laura van de Loo were invited to the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 Sports and Inclusion Summit, which took place on 19 July 2025 under the motto Diversity, Participation and Inclusion in International University Sports. 
The summit was jointly organised by the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Allgemeinen Deutschen Hochschulsportverband (adh) as part of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games Summer (https://rhineruhr2025.com/en). High-calibre representatives from the worlds of sport, science and politics came together. The result of the joint exchange is the ‘Rhine-Ruhr 2025 Initiative Paper’, which formulates concrete perspectives and recommendations for a more inclusive organisation of future major national and international sporting events, such as the FISU World University Games Summer.
