wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter
Salary Level E13 TV-L (100%)

subject to the release of the project funds by the funding agency. The fixed-term post is available for a three-year period starting 1 June 2020.

Currently, the regular full employment time is 39 hours and 50 minutes per week.

The position is part of a joint project on “Sovereign and Intuitive Management of Personal Location Information (SIMPORT)”. The project aims to develop approaches, guidelines and software components that enable users to reclaim sovereignty over their personal location information. The project will also enable developers of mobile location-based systems to integrate and use these results easily when developing location-based systems that adequately deal with location privacy while provide high quality services. In cooperation with partners from industry and other universities, SIMPORT will combine several disciplines (geoinformatics, software engineering, ethics) to develop and evaluate novel means of interaction, architectures and tools. Key goals of these outcomes include visualising risks in an understandable way, providing fine-grained means to control for location sharing and facilitating learning of essential considerations and concepts related to the use of personal location information. The outcomes of the project will be made available freely and openly to allow for easy re-use and further development.

The successful candidate will primarily contribute to the work packages “learning tool for appreciating risks and consequences” and “user interfaces for control and consent” but will also be involved in the other work packages of the project. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to take on management tasks related to the joint project such as the organisation of project meetings, the coordination of software development and the design and implementation of workshops and user studies.

Candidates are expected to hold a PhD degree in geoinformatics, computer science or other relevant discipline and to have previous experience building and managing large software frameworks. Prior experience working in interdisciplinary teams with managerial responsibilities is desirable. Similarly, past experience in the following areas is advantageous: location privacy, privacy, human-computer interaction, human-centered design, (geo-) visualisation, learning tools as well as machine learning. Experiences in other areas related to the overall project would also be highly valued.
