The Institute of Biochemistry at the University of Münster, Germany, is offering a full-time position in the group of Prof Rentmeister as


Postdoctoral Research Assistant
Wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in
(Salary Level, E13 TV-L, 100%)

limited for one year from 01 July 2020 with the weekly working time of currently 39 hours 50 minutes.

The tasks of the job holder are mainly focused on the chemical and enzymatic synthesis and characterization of RNA with photo-caging groups. The project requires close cooperation with PhD students from the fields of chemistry, biochemistry and biotechnology and technical staff at the Institute of Biochemistry. The role will also involve collaboration with biology-related research groups at other institutes. The results obtained will be regularly summarized in reports and published in scientific journals.

The prerequisite for employment is a completed doctorate in chemistry. The ability to document and present scientific results in English is expected.

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:

  • Experience in mammalian cell culture (production of stable cell lines, fixation etc., possibly microinjection)
  • Experience in RNA biochemical techniques
  • Experience in microscopy (confocal LSM, possibly also live cell microscopy)
  • Experience in RNA synthesis and production of modified RNA
  • Experience in protein biochemistry
