Im Fachbereich Wirtschaftswissenschaften der Westfälischen Wilhelms-Universität Münster ist am Institut für Wirtschaftsinformatik in Kooperation mit dem Exzellenz Start-up Center (ESC@WWU) zum 01.04.2021 eine
Professur für Wirtschaftsinformatik, insb. Public Sector Digitalization (W3)
zu besetzen.
Der/die zukünftige Stelleninhaber/-in soll die Wirtschaftsinformatik in Forschung und Lehre vertreten, vorzugsweise im Anwendungsfeld der Digitalisierung im öffentlichen Sektor. Hierbei soll im Besonderen die Digitalisierung an der Schnittstelle von Verwaltung und Wirtschaft adressiert werden.
Forschungsfragen sind u.a:
• Konzeption, Entwicklung, Betrieb und Nutzung von digitalen (öffentlichen) Infrastrukturen,
• gesellschaftliche Werte und Regulierung bei der Verzahnung von Wirtschaft und Verwaltung in einem ganzheitlichen Ökosystem (z. B. im Sinne des Government as a Platform (GaaP)-Gedankens),
• die Rolle digitaler Infrastrukturen im integrierenden Kontext von Smart Cities,
• (öffentliche) IT-Infrastrukturen und Plattformen als Basis für und Treiber von Unternehmensgründungen (u. a. im Sinne von Open Innovation oder auch Co-Creation-Ansätzen),
• die künftige Rolle öffentlicher/staatlicher Institutionen,
• die künftige Rolle der Technologiebranche (im weiten Sinn) für die Gesellschaft.
Erwartet wird eine empirisch-fundierte gestaltungsorientierte Forschung. Die Forschungsarbeiten sollten als Bindeglied zwischen Institut für Wirtschaftsinformatik und dem Exzellenz Start-up Center (ESC@WWU) positioniert werden.
Kandidaten/-innen müssen durch ihre bisherigen und aktuellen Forschungsarbeiten belegen können, dass sie im Themenfeld der Professur auf höchstem wissenschaftlichen Niveau international ausgewiesen sind und arbeiten. Eine entsprechende Qualifikation ist durch einschlägige Publikationen in hochrangigen internationalen Journalen im Themenfeld der Professur nachzuweisen.
Es wird erwartet, dass der/die zukünftige Stelleninhaber/in eine eigene Forschungsgruppe innerhalb der bestehenden Institutsstrukturen aufbaut und diese mit entsprechenden Drittmitteleinwerbungen ausbaut sowie die Befähigung zum Aufbau internationaler Netzwerke erkennen lässt.
Es werden erwartet:
• Lehrerfahrungen in Bachelor-, Master- und Promotionsstudiengängen und positive studentische Evaluationen, ebenso bereits erfolgreich betreute Promotionsverfahren,
• die Fähigkeit und Bereitschaft zur Durchführung englischsprachiger und – ggf. mit einem Übergang von zwei Jahren – deutschsprachiger Lehrveranstaltungen in den Bachelor-, Master- und Doktorandenstudiengängen der Wirtschaftsinformatik, dem Masterstudiengang PIONEER und des ESC
• eine inhaltliche und organisatorische Beteiligung an den Aufgaben des Instituts, des ERCIS und des ESC@WWU ebenso wie Engagement in der akademischen Selbstverwaltung.
Das Qualifikationsprofil wird abgerundet durch Flexibilität und Belastbarkeit, Selbstständigkeit und Eigenverantwortung, Leitungs- und Teamfähigkeit, soziale Kompetenz sowie erfolgreiche internationale Kooperation.
Einstellungsvoraussetzungen sind ein abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium, pädagogische Eignung und die besondere Befähigung zu wissenschaftlicher Arbeit, die in der Regel durch eine qualifizierte Promotion nachgewiesen ist. Darüber hinaus sind zusätzliche wissenschaftliche Leistungen erforderlich, die im Rahmen einer Juniorprofessur, einer Habilitation oder einer Tätigkeit als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin oder wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an einer Hochschule oder außeruniversitären Einrichtung oder im Rahmen einer wissenschaftlichen Tätigkeit in Wirtschaft, Verwaltung oder in einem anderen gesellschaftlichen Bereich im In- und Ausland erbracht worden sind. The Department of Information Systems in the School of Business and Economics at the University of Münster, Germany, in co-operation with the Excellence Startup Center (ESC@WWU) invites applications for a
Full Professorship in Information Systems: Public Sector Digitalization
(salary level W3)
The position is available to commence from April 1st 2021 on.
The successful applicant will represent information systems in research and teaching, preferably in the field of public sector digitalization and, more specifically, in digitalization at the interface between business and administration.
Research questions to be addressed are – besides others:
- Conceptualization, design and use of digital infrastructures
- social values and regulation in the interplay of private and public sector in a holistic ecosystem (e.g. in the sense of the Government as a Platform (GaaP) idea).
- the Role of digital infrastructures in the integrational context of Smart Cities,
- (Public) IT infrastructures and platforms as a basis for business start-ups (e.g. in the sense of open innovation or co-creation)
- the future role of public/governmental institutions,
- the future role of the technology sector (in a general manner) for society,
It is expected that the successful applicant’s work is primarily design-oriented, but supported by empirical research. The research should be positioned between the Institute for Information Systems and the Excellence Startup Center (ESC@WWU).
Successful applicants must be able to prove through their past and current research work that they are internationally recognised and are able to work at the highest scientific level in the field of the professorship. A corresponding qualification must be proven by relevant publications in high-ranking international journals in the subject area of the professorship.
It is expected that the future holder of the position will establish his or her own research group within the existing department’s structures and add it with appropriate third-party funding, as well as demonstrate the ability to build international networks.
Responsibilities
• teaching (in English) and examinations in the various study programs (BSc IS, MSc IS, MSc PIONEER, PhD) including 9 hours of instruction per week
• supervision of bachelors and master’s theses and doctoral candidates
• building a research group and attracting research funding
• participating in services and committees within the department and the school
Qualifications
• Applicants must have successfully completed a relevant university degree, hold a doctoral degree or have equivalent qualifications at the time of appointment, either in information systems or a related field.
• The applicant must have professional proficiency in English. German language skills at the level of C1 must be demonstrated after two years.
• A pedagogical suitability, typically demonstrated by the quality of the teaching concept/philosophy, student course evaluations and the quality of the presentation, all of which are part of the application process.
• The ability to conduct research at a high international standard. The applicant is meant to provide an account of her or his research pipeline, i.e. planned research and publications, their research concept, an outlook for the professorship and for the development of their work, including a positioning of it in a wider research context.
• Experience in attracting external funding and managing funded projects, international experience, an international network and international collaboration is welcomed. In particular, we expect active participation in the European Research Center for Information Systems (ERCIS).
• We are looking for a personality who exhibits flexibility and resilience, self-responsibility and the ability to work independently, leadership skills, team spirit and social competence, and who has experience in successful international cooperation.
